Series Overview

World Defying Dan God, also known as “The Proud God of Alchemy” or 傲世丹神 is a super-long Chinese fantasy novel, written by a well-known online author – Ji Xiao Zei. Since its initial serialization, the story has attracted a large audience with its complex plot and richly imagined world centered around alchemy. The novel has been completed recently, with a total of 8.14 millions words and more than 5,700 chapters and has consistently held a top position in the fantasy ranking.

Synopsis-

The series tells the story of a young boy named Shen Xiang who was regarded as “Useless” by his family because he was born without spiritual veins, but one day, in search of medicine he accidentally fell into the bottom of the Immortal Demon Cliff in despair and accidentally obtain the “Hell Ganoderma” and the inheritance of two mysterious women, then he awakens the heaven-defying divine vains. After that, he changed his fate by practicing both Dan and Wushu.

The story runs through classic fantasy plots such as family disputes, the rise of sect and the war between gods and demons and finally ends with the protagonist’s life experience and unravelling the mysteries of Heaven.

Character Introduction

Chen Xiang (Shen Xiang)

Chen Xiang is the main male lead of the animation series – The Proud Alchemy God. He is the right heir to the prestigious Shen family of the Nanwu Kingdom, located on the Kyushu continent . However, behind this novel identity lies a very dark secret, he is from a mysterious and powerful lineage. It was later revealed that he is a direct descendant of the legendary “Clan of Destiny”, and that his parents were extraordinary individuals who once planned the path of Heaven.

Bai Youyou

The Supreme of Demonic Dao, one of the inheritors, Shen Xiang met at the bottom of the Immortal Demon Cliff. In the early stage, she taught Chen Xiang the magic skills as a master and apprentice. In the later stage, they developed an emotional connection beyond the master and apprentice because of fighting against the heavenly calamity together.

Su Meiyao

The reincarnation of the Dan Xian, another inheritor of the cliff bottom, with a deep blood feud. From using Chen Xiang for the revenge to relying on each other for life and death, the two built trust through alchemy cooperation and eventually became one of Chen Xiang’s most trusted partners.

Xue Xianxian

Xue Xianxian is Shen Xiang’s childhood sweetheart, because of their closeness, their father arranged a marriage between the two. She plays a key role in healing his psychological trauma in the early days. As the “General Manager of Logistics” she assists Chen Xiang in managing his power. Her emotionality runs throughout the story and she is regarded by readers as a candidate for the “First Wife”.

However, as of now, no official announcement or updates has been posted on the animation’s official Weibo account. The studio has plenty of time to share news in the coming months.
