On October 3, 2024, Youku Animation held an Annual Conference and during the conference a list of new donghua series and many sequels of the popular series were announced. The biggest announcement among them was the theatrical edition of the series “Cang Yuan Tu“, and along with this, it was also confirmed that the The demon Hunter season 2 will be broadcaste before the end of this year. Although, its exact release date is yet to be confirmed. additionally, it also announced that there will be an another Special season of the animation.

The Demon Hunter Movie Release –
The big news of 2024 Youku Animation Annual Conference was the announcement of the theatrical Edition of the animation “Cang Yuan Tu”. It is the first time that a major IP from Youku Animation’s donghua series is being upgraded into theatrical film. This adaptation will achieve vast improvement in narrative depth, quality and visual effects, which has the potential to set a new standard for the series and for the Animation Community.
The production team of the animation “The Demon Hunter” has unveiled its official poster. From the poster, it is clear that the film is going to introduce a new approach in terms of character designs, narrative setting and artistic direction, there is sense of freshness. These elements reflect significant changes from the established world view of the original animation, offering an exciting new take on animation.
Cang Yuan Tu Movie Plot –
In the poster, we can clearly see Meng Chuan, Liu Qiyu, Mei Yuanzhi and Yan Jin are walking on the streets in modern clothes, the neon light visual effects have a cyberpunk atmosphere indicates that the story may be set in Modern time in Shanghai. Although, the plot of the theatrical film is not unveiled by the official team yet.
Despite current speculation based on the poster, personally I don’t think the story will be based in modern time. This belief comes from watching the original animation series, which suggests a different direction. The Demon Hunter Special Season 2
The second season of the animation “Cang Yuan Tu” has not yet released, but during the Youku Animation Annual Conference an official announcement has been made regarding the release of the special episodes. The announcement trailer has also been unveiled, though it doesn’t reveal much. It primarily consists of a series of motion pictures in which no significant detailes or plot point are revealed. However, its season 2 has been officialy confirmed that it will be released by the end of this year.
